Over the years, CTC has helped develop skaters who have gone on to discover a passion for other sports. While their paths may have taken them away from competitive figure skating, the skills they developed on the ice have continued to play an important role in their success.

Sofia Zabjek

Sofia Zabjek is both a former member of CTC and a talented Canadian volleyball athlete from Cambridge, Ontario, whose journey has taken her from local competition to the university and national stages.   Sofia has represented Canada internationally. She was selected to Canada’s U19 national team and competed at the 2025 U19 international competitions. During the U19 Pan American Cup, she was among Canada’s leading scorers, including a 16-point performance in Canada’s opening match.

What makes Sofia’s story particularly unique is that volleyball has not been her only athletic passion; she also spent 10 years figure skating. Her success highlights how dedication and work ethic that is expected at an advanced sport applies across disciplines.

Today, Sofia continues to pursue excellence both academically and athletically at Colorado State, studying Animal Science with the goal of becoming a veterinarian while developing her volleyball career at the NCAA Division I level.
